Wicklow Mountains National Park receives many requests for transition year work experience each year. Most of these cannot be facilitated due to the drain on staff resources. However, for one set week each year, we take on four transition year work experience students.
Wicklow Mountains National Park TY Week 2017
Dates: Monday 3rd to Friday 7th April 2017
Note: Please do not apply for TY Week if you cannot make these dates.
Provisionally, students on TY Week shall spend two days working with the Conservation Rangers, two days working with the Education team, day working with the Maintenance team. (Subject to staff availability.)
Location & Times:
Students will be expected to meet at the National Park Headquarters in Kilafin (near Laragh) at 9:30 am each morning. From here, they shall be transported to their day’s work location by Park staff. Students shall be dropped back to the Park Headquarters for 5pm each afternoon, except on Friday when they finish up at 4pm. Note: Please do not apply for the TY Week if you cannot get to and from the National Park Headquarters each day.
Students will not be working on Saturday and Sunday.
Students must wear clothes suitable for working outside in all weathers. Students must also bring a packed lunch each day.

Students that are offered a place on TY Week shall be requested to complete and return a consent form, supplying school insurance details and parental permission, and must be signed by a parent / guardian and by the TY teacher. Note: The onus is on the student to return this form to us by the date stated or their place shall be offered to someone else.
