Biodiversity Art Competition

Calling Wicklow's Primary Schools! 

 

 

To celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity (2010), Wicklow Mountains National Park is hosting an art competition for primary schools. Children are invited to submit artwork depicting any aspect of Ireland’s Biodiversity. This may be a plant or an animal or a habitat, or any aspect of Ireland’s wonderful Nature.

Categories

Art work will be judged in four age categories:

Infants (junior & senior infants)

1st & 2nd class

3rd & 4th class

5th & 6th class

 

We welcome artwork in any medium - drawings, paintings, collage on paper, etc.

Size: All artwork should be A3. We will not be able to return work.

Please write on the back of each piece of art: a title to explain what has been drawn, child’s name, age, class, teacher and school name and contact number written on the back.

Closing date for receipt of art work is 30 April.

The winners will be announced during National Biodiversity Week 16 to 23 May.

Prizes

A prize will be awarded for the work deemed to be the best in each category. Prizes will consist of a choice of wildlife books (please see list below) and a trophy mug with the child’s picture printed on it. The school will also receive the choice of a native tree or bird box or a bat box. The school will also have the option of booking a biodiversity themed day out to the Education Centre in Glendalough for the child’s class during June 2010.

Runners up will receive certificates of commendation with the child’s picture inserted. The best pictures will be on show in the National Park Information Office, Glendalough over the summer holidays.
