The National parks and Wildlife Service operates several Education Centres around the country.
Within Co. Wicklow, the National Park Education team operate two dedicated Education Centres - one within the Park in Glendalough, and one outside the Park boundaries, in Knocksink Wood Nature Reserve in Enniskerry. Both centres offer programmes in field studies and nature awareness to schools and other interested groups. The education programme is run by National Park Education Guides who facilitate a wide range of activities for groups of all ages.
All our activities are free of charge.
The Education Centre in Glendalough is situated in Bolger's Cottage, on the Miners' Road by the Upper Lake, Glendalough. The centre is open during office hours from Monday to Friday, and is open all year round. If there are staff in the building, the door will be open and if you are passing, you are welcome to come in and have a look at our displays.
The Education Centre in Knocksink Wood in Enniskerry was previously run as the NEEC (National Environmental Education Centre). Please note, that the NEEC no longer operates, and the centre is now managed by the education staff of Wicklow Mountains National Park.
This centre is open during office hours from Monday to Friday, and is open all year round. If there are staff in the building, the door will be open and if you are passing, you are welcome to come in and have a look at our displays.
Each year, for one set week only, Wicklow Mountains National Park takes on four transition year students for work experience. Details and application forms are available here.
