Education Centre, Glendalough: How To Book

Please note that our diary fills up VERY quickly. So, please, if you wish to book a place, ring early - months before you wish to come!

Practicalities

All our activities are free of charge.

Groups must be accompanied by at least one adult leader for every ten childrenArrival without the specified number of leaders may result in the group being turned away. (Summer Project groups should note that teenage leaders are not considered suitable for this purpose although they are more than welcome to assist on the day.)

Accompanying adults are responsible for the supervision of the children at all times.

All activities start from the Education Centre which is close to the Upper Lake car park.

Buses must drop off and collect children at the Upper Lake car park. There is a charge for this.

Toilet facilities are not available in the Education Centre; please use the toilets in the car park.

Children are advised to bring full rain gear and suitable footwear, wear old clothes, and bring a spare pair of clothes.

Please telephone one week before arrival to re-confirm your booking.

How to Find Us

The Education Centre is located in Bolger’s Cottage beside the Upper Lake in Glendalough. To get there, follow the sign posts to Glendalough.

Drive past the big Visitor Centre car park. (The bus driver may automatically turn in here - be warned!)

Drive past the Glendalough Hotel. The road past the Hotel goes over a small twisty bridge. Many bus drivers will refuse to take their bus over the bridge. Don’t panic! If the bus drives through the Hotel car park, it will avoid the bridge.

Then continue up the road for about a mile. There is a Wicklow County Council car park at the end of this road. This is the Upper Lake Car Park. Unfortunately, there is a coin fed barrier to enter (currently €4). Park here.

Our Education Centre is a short 5 minute walk away, on the Miner’s Road that runs along the north side of the Upper Lake.

If you get lost, phone the Education Centre 0404 45656
