Glensoulan Bridge Repaired by Mountain Meitheal

Walking Trails Warning

The first icy weather of the winter has arrived. Walkers on the trails in Glendalough should be advised that boardwalks are slippery in ice and snow. This warning applies to the following routes:

 

Wicklow Way Bridge Washed Away

(November 2011)

The Bridge on the Dargle River in Glensoulan (Grid Ref O 191 121) has been washed away in recent floods. This is the bridge on the stretch of the Wicklow Way between Crone Woods and Djouce, and on the Dargle River immediately above Powerscourt Waterfall.

The river here is only cross-able with care in low flow and crossings should not be undertaken at all following rain or in flood conditions. It is hoped that the bridge will be repaired as soon as possible.

 

Mountain Meitheal Repair Bridge in Glendalough

The National Park is very grateful to Mountain Meitheal for their recent work to repair a small bridge on the Spinc Walking Trail (White route) in Glendalough. A team of hard working volunteers fixed up a bridge that had been badly damaged in recent floods.
