The Emperor of Japan Visits Glendalough

On 12 May 2005, Emperor Akihito and Emperess Michiko came on a three day unofficial visit to Ireland. The Emperor who is a keen naturalist asked for a tour of the National Park with a Park Guide. Despite high security and a patch of inclement weather, the royal couple appeared relaxed and even found time to chat to some tourists.
