Common Frog

Common Frog

Ireland's damp climate makes it a haven for frogs. The Common frog, our only frog species, is found throughout the country. In early spring, even roadside puddles are filled with frog spawn. Amphibian numbers are declining rapidly throughout Europe and the world, possibly due to declining water quality. It is very important that Ireland monitors its frog populations which thankfully are still doing well.
