Grey Heron

Grey Heron

Many a garden pond has had all its goldfish removed by this incredible hunter. The brightly colored goldfish must look like sweeties in a jar to the heron. Their wild fish prey is better camouflaged and lives in ponds and rivers with more places to hide, making for a more challenging meal. Herons are common throughout Ireland's rivers and lakes and along the coast.
