Reefert Church

Reefert Church

This nave and chancel church is situated close to the Upper Lake in Glendalough. It dates from around 1100. The walls surrounding the area (not visible in this image) are a more modern addition. The projecting granite corbels at the corners would have supported a wooden roof. The name derives from the Gaelic 'Righ Fearta' meaning the burial place of the kings.
